KEVIN KLINE - as in the *Actor* - ONLINE - Biographical Notes

main page | write to Kevin

 Full name: Kevin Delaney Kline
Date of Birth: October 24, 1947
Chinese Astrological Sign: Year of the Pig
Eye color: Blue
Height: 6 ft. 1 in. ('94 Parade Interview)
6 ft. 2 in. (IMdB info)
6 ft. 2 in. "at least!" - said by a tall person who's stood next to Kevin
Hair Color: Gray/Brown
Birthplace: St. Louis, MO
(Grew up in Clayton, a suburb of St. Louis)
Parents: Robert Joseph Kline (deceased; read obit) & Peggy Kirk Kline (deceased; read obit)
Siblings: Older sis Kate; younger brothers Chris & Alex
Married to: Phoebe Cates (m.5 March '89; b. 16 July '63) IMDB Entry
Phoebe is in The Anniversary Party.
Children: A son, Owen Joseph (b. 14 Oct. '91), and a daughter, Greta Simone (b. 21 March '94).
NOTE: Owen and Greta are Kevin and Phoebe's only children. There was NEVER a third child. Disregard anything you read to the contrary. It seems that a few years ago, somebody posted false info on a celebrity babies web site which was soon corrected on that site but not before the false story could be perpetuated on numerous places on the internet.
8/28/07 update: See article "Kevin Kline Baffled By Baby News" (Starpulse News Blog) (Not sure of date of article, but must be from back when the "third baby" rumors were first going around.)
Owen - appears as one of the babies in Dave and as one of the two Gold children in The Anniversary Party. Owen also appears in "Life As A House" -- my understanding is that an actual Kline family movie clip was used in the film for the family movie clip of Kevin's and Hayden Christensen's characters.
Greta - appears as one of the two Gold children in The Anniversary Party.

Working With Phoebe:
Film: I Love You To Death; Princess Caraboo; The Anniversary Party
    Stage: Much Ado About Nothing
    TV: Sesame Street
Kevin's Favorite Movie: "Dr. Strangelove is maybe my all-time favorite movie..." [March 98 Playboy]
Education: Priory School (St. Louis; class of '65), Indiana U., Juilliard
(Kevin helped dedicate the Kevin Kline Theater at Priory School in September 1997. See article.)
John Houseman's The Acting Company: Kevin was a member of the first company and spent four years touring the country.
Funny Guy: No. 34: Entertainment Weekly's 50 Funniest People Alive
Rock Band (High School Years): The One-Eyed Jacks (source: KK's Inside The Actors Studio appearance)
